Top 4 countries with the lowest property prices

Are you struggling to live in your home country due to the high prices of property, or are you looking for a second home but on a low budget? Then consider buying property in the cheaper range of the European market. It is not suprisingly that cities as London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Kopenhagen are a few of the most expensive cities in Europe to buy a house. Buying property abroad might be just the solution you are looking for. We had a look at the 4 places in Europe where houses are still affordable.

1.    Bulgaria

If you are looking for the very cheapest house prices in Europe, then Bulgaria is the place to look. This Eastern European country offers houses as cheap as 3.600 Euro, though this is situated in the villages of the more rural areas. Sofia, the historic capital, can sometimes offer a property for the very low price of 59.000 Euro, depending on the size of the property. Next to the cheapest house prices in Europe, the country has a low cost of living. A loaf of bread costs about 50 Eurocents and a meal at a restaurant 5,50 Euro per person.

2.    Romania

Second cheapest on the European property market is Romania, with a 2-bedroom apartment in Bucharest costing approx. 70.500 Euro. This is about ten times cheaper than an appartment in other capitals in Europe. In Bucharest there are lots of opportunities for career progressing and the city is overall very affordable. Purchasing a home or second home in Bucharest is a great way to afford a house with a low income.

3.    Turkey

The famous city of Istanbul is the part of Turkey that belongs to Europe. This location has some of the cheapest properties in Europe. Though in the rest of Turkey, for example in the popular vacation resort Alanya, the prices can compete with the second place on this list. The average price of a new 2-bedroom apartment in Turkey is 122.400 Euro, but in Alanya this amount can easily be lower. Turkey is a very inexpensive country to live in and the cost of living is even lower than Bulgaria’s, with a meal costing 4 Euro and a bottle of 1,5 litres of water costing only 30 Eurocents. This makes Turkey a low-price place to live in Europe for sure. The benefits of living in Alanya is that the city is surrounded by cultural sights and you can take a boat tour along the underwater caves. Alanya has endless opportunities for foreigners and locals.

4.    Croatia

Some of the lowest priced houses of Europe can be found in Croatia. A 2-bedroom apartment in Istria costs about 140.000 Euro. However it must be noted that there are lots of cities in Croatia that can not be considered cheap locations to live within Europe. An example of a more expensive property location is Split, where property can be as expensive as 3.650 Euro per square meter. Therefore, it is rated as the least affordable neighbourhood to buy property in Croatia.
